Living in McAllen
McAllen is the largest city in Hidalgo County and a center for shopping, medical care and business across the region. Its landmarks include Casa de Palmas, built downtown on North Main Street in 1918, and Quinta Mazatlan on Sunset Drive, a Spanish Revival adobe mansion built in 1935 that is now a World Birding Center site on 20 acres of thornforest.
Neighborhoods range from established streets near downtown to new subdivisions to the north.
